Request for Proposals ~ SafePlace is pleased to announce that we are seeking grant applications from agencies that provide services to crime victims and that wish to increase their community’s effectiveness in serving crime victims with disabilities.  For details on eligibility and how to apply, click here.

In recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month ~ SafePlace invited Austin workplaces to join us April 16, for Denim Day 2008.  By wearing jeans to work on April 16th, employees in Austin helped to raise awareness and begin dialogues about rape and sexual assault misconception.  Thank you Austin for your support and participation in Denim Day.

Beyond Labels: Working with Abuse Survivors with Mental Illness Symptoms or Substance Abuse Issues ~ A new resource for domestic violence and sexual assault programs. Written in response to requests from crisis centers for information on providing effective services to survivors whose mental health is affected by trauma or cope with the violence by abusing substances. Free On-Line Training for Health Care Professionals ~ Domestic Violence & Pregnancy: Effective Screening and Intervention is a 1.5 hour on-line training intended for healthcare professionals in the Ob/Gyn and family planning settings. CNEs (Texas) and CEUs (Texas) are available.
