SafePlace Deaf Services - Challenging Rape Culture: Discussion
Join us for a gathering with the Deaf community to discuss strategies about challenging rape culture. Here are few questions we will discuss during our discussion:
Society tends to focus on lecturing females on how to avoid rape. What can we all do to change this?
- When victims reveal that they got raped, people often blamed them and told them that it was their fault and that they should not have done certain things. Why do we blame victims and how can we stop blaming victims?
- Are self-defense courses effective or not?
Please bring your thoughts, opinions, and answers to the discussion. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP by Monday, April 16th. For more information and to RSVP, please email Nida Din, Deaf Services Outreach/Educator.
