SafePlace Pet Foster Program
In recent surveys of survivors entering shelters across the country, 71% report that their partner threatened, hurt or killed their pets before they left. Others confirmed they delayed leaving their partner due to these threats.
SafePlace is committed to making sure that survivors of domestic violence are able to leave when they are ready and find safety for all their family members, including their pets.
Volunteers in the Pet Foster Program take part in an off-site foster care program designed for temporary care for pets of current clients of SafePlace shelter. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining a safe and fun-loving environment for our clients’ pets. To learn how to become a Pet Foster volunteer please attend a Volunteer Open House.
