Frequently Asked Questions About Hosting an Event

Why should I host an event for SafePlace?

Host an event to engage your community, colleagues, friends and family as well as provide much needed  funds and/or necessities for SafePlace’s programs and services.

Who can host an event for SafePlace?

Anyone!  Here are some examples:  Stores, restaurants, offices, social groups or clubs, schools, service/volunteer groups, apartment complexes, condo and neighborhood associations, places of worship or just yourself!

How will SafePlace help me promote my event?

SafePlace will post your event information on the SafePlace Community Events Calendar, on the SafePlace Facebook page and in the weekly SafePlace staff newsletter.  SafePlace will also provide links to the Calendar of Events and Facebook page in the all of the e-newsletters sent out.  SafePlace will not solicit participation from clients or donors in the form of e-blasts or provide email or mailing lists to hosts of community events.

Will a representative from SafePlace attend my event?

Due to limited resources SafePlace cannot guarantee a representative will attend an event.

What kind of event should I host?

Ultimately, that is up to you as the host.  However, if you need some ideas, please check out our Community Event Examples page or our Calendar of Events page to see what's currently happening around town.

I want to host a donation drive, what items should I collect for SafePlace?

  • Host a Cell Phone Drive:  Donations of both working and broken cell phones are accepted.  Working cell phones can be given to clients for emergency use. Non-working cell phones are sold to help provide funding for services.
  • Host a Food Drive:  Food donations support our shelter's commissary.  Currently, we can accept dry goods, canned food, box dinners and frozen meat.  Please see our list of needs.
  • Host a Themed Drive:  There are a number of items that our clients use on a daily basis such as diapers and new, unopened toiletries.  Themed drives (diaper drives, toiletry drives) help SafePlace keep these items in stock for all those who need them.

Will SafePlace pick up the gifts I collected?

Unfortunately, due to limited resources, SafePlace is unable to do pick ups of any kind.
