Hospital Advocacy

Hospital accompaniment and advocacy is offered as assistance to recent rape and sexual assault survivors. Advocate staff or volunteers are contacted through the 24-hour Hotline and meet the survivor to support and inform survivors at local emergency rooms.

Advocates offer compassionate information and support to survivors and any loved ones who also wish to have support. They are available to coordinate with law enforcement and medical staff to meet the survivor’s needs, can stay beside the survivor during the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurses Examination) for evidence collection and are trained to answer legal and medical questions so survivors can make informed choices.

These compassionate, sensitive and well-trained volunteers can help survivors - afraid, anxious and traumatized after their assault - begin to feel safe.

"I appreciated being supported and listened to so early after
the assault...I was grateful that someone had been there to support me."

~ Jessica, rape survivor
