Shop for the Shelter Holiday Program

Our Shop for the Shelter program fills the needs of our shelter clients and families who will not be able to participate in the Sponsor a Family program due to time constraints. All donations collected for this program are displayed in the shelter, and our shelter clients pick gifts for their family members staying with us – parents pick for their children, and the kiddos get to pick for their parents. The need for this program is great and all donations are much appreciated.

  • How do I participate in this program?
You do not need to register with SafePlace to participate in this program.  Please drop off donations at the Gil Crane Warehouse and notify the warehouse staff the donation is for the Shop for the Shelter Program.

  • When do I bring the gifts to you?
Please bring donations to the Gil Crane Warehouse from November 28th to December 22nd.

  • What kind of gifts should I bring?
Please review our suggested wish list below.  We ask that all gifts are new and unwrapped (donations of wrapping paper and tape are greatly appreciated!).  Any one gift cannot be more than $75 - this is to ensure equity among all gifts.

  • Can I donate additional things not on the list?
We welcome all gifts, however please do not donate any violent toys (toy knives, toy guns, etc.)  We also do not accept opened toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.), or large electronics like televisions, etc.

  • If I collect money from different people to purchase items, do they receive a tax write off?
Please see our tax information for complete details.
