LifeSkills
Once survivors feel safe and have begun to heal, SafePlace offers learning opportunities to help survivors re-build their lives.
The LifeSkills Program explores self-esteem building, assertiveness, communications skills, conflict management, healthy living, stress management, self-care, parenting, job search skills, money management and building healthy relationships. The 16-week program is held in both English and Spanish and is mandatory for Supportive Housing Program clients. Other SafePlace clients often choose to participate.
At the end of each program, survivors are honored with a Graduation Ceremony where they can share what they have learned and how these new skills will help them in their future lives. When survivors learn skills that increase their self-sufficiency, it enhances their quality of life and empowers them as they build their new lives free of domestic violence.
