The BIG Give

Hosted by I Live Here, I Give Here

When:     Monday, August 9 thru Friday, September 3
Details:   
On September 22nd, I Live Here, I Give Here will give away The BIG
                  Prize 
to one lucky non-profit, a gift of $10,000 for excellence in
                  donor relations
.  The winner will be selected based on how well an
                  organization meets the following criteria: 
                     
                              • Making each “ask” personalized
                              Thanking each donor promptly and in a meaningful way
                                 upon receipt of the gift
                              Communicating the impact of each gift
                              Using innovative techniques to communicate with and
                                 engage donors

                  As a registered organization, SafePlace is eligible to win The BIG Prize
                  and we need YOUR help!  Visit the I Live Here, I Give Here website
                  anytime between Monday, August 9th and Friday, September 3rd and
                  vote!  We're listed under Victims' Services. 
Voting includes a short
                  questionnaire (3 minutes or less). Every vote will be counted once the
                  survey is complete.

                  Voting results will be tallied daily and displayed on
                  www.ILiveHereIGiveHere.org.  The three finalists will be announced on
                  Saturday, September 4th.

The Four Faced Liar

Where:   Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar
When:    Wednesday, September 8
                  9:15 pm
Details:   Join us for the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival
                  (aGLIFF) showing of 
The Four Faced Liar.  We'll have a booth on
                  site, stop by and say hi!
                  
                  A limited number of tickets will be made available for pre-purchase in
                  person at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.  All remaining
                  tickets will be on a rush basis before the start of each film program.

                  All-Access Festival Badges with priority seating are a benefit of aGLIFF

                  Kid Policy: 18 and up; Children 6 and up will be allowed only with a

Community Bucks are Back!

Where:   Any Randalls Food Markets location
When:     September 1-30
Details:   Shop at your local Randalls between September 1-30 and you'll
                  receive a Community Buck for every $50 in groceries purchased
                  (limit of three Community Bucks per transaction.)  Collect as many
                  as you can and send them to SafePlace.  For ever Community Buck
                  sent in, we will receive $1 in the form of a Randalls Gift Card.  We can
                  use this Gift Card for turkeys, hams, food baskets, holiday grocery
                  needs and more!

Raped Clarity - A Play by Anita A. Ahiadormey

Where:   The Gemini Playhouse
                  5214 Burleson Rd.
When:     September 9-19
Details:   Gemini Playhouse owner and theatre artist Anita A. Ahiadormey makes
                  her playwrighting debut with the new play Raped Clarity.  Written and
                  directed by Ahiadormey, the story follows Kensington Roberts as she
                  navigates the new terrain of her life following a brutal attack. Roberts
                  struggles to confront her present and past with the aid of her bold counselor.
                  Ahiadormey says the play gives a gritty and powerful insight into the effects
                  of rape, domestic violence and one woman’s struggle to overcome it.

                  Performances:    Thursdays through Fridays at 8 p.m.
                                                     Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
                                                     Sundays at 2 p.m.
                  
                  Tickets at $15 for general admission.
                  The play is recommended for mature audiences.

                  A portion of the proceeds from the production will benefit SafePlace.

Hosted by The Women's Fund of Central Texas

Details:   Inspire a girl in your life to make a meaningful difference in the lives of
                  others as well as her own.

                  Program Fee:  $150 for one adult/one girl.

The 6th Annual Celebrating the Survivor Spirit

Where:   The Austin Centre
                  3809 S. 2nd St., #A100
When:     Saturday, September 25
                  5-6 pm (display of visual art and open mic sign-up)
                  6-9 pm (open to the public)
Details:  For survivors of sexual violence, their partners, family, friends and allies.
                  *This event is not appropriate for young children.

                  The event begins with an open hanging display of visual art and an open
                  mic sign-up to schedule use of the space, microphone to share spoken word,
                  dance or a musical performance.

                  * Free Admission * Non-alcoholic Event * Snacks Provided
                  * Wheelchair Accessible * ASL interpreters upon request

Music for the City CD - Volume 1

Details:   Music for the City - Volume 1 is a compilation album featuring
                  Austin’s best up and coming artists (Alpha Rev, Quiet Company,
                  Aaron Ivey and more!) and will benefit kids in crisis and victims
                  of domestic violence. 
                  
                  All proceeds from album sales will directly benefit SafePlace
                  and Austin Children's Shelter.
