Holiday Program
The holidays are a difficult time for those we serve at SafePlace. Compounded by the violence they have suffered, the issues of homelessness and severe lack of resources make it extraordinarily difficult to celebrate the season. At SafePlace, we have two programs to fit the needs of our clients: Sponsor A Family Program and Shop for the Shelter Program.
Sponsor A Family Program:
The Sponsor A Family program allows a donor to be assigned to a family or individual who is a client at SafePlace. Due to our strict privacy and confidentiality policies, it is not possible to meet the family you are sponsoring.
Shop for the Shelter Program:
Our Shop for the Shelter Program fills the needs of our shelter clients and families who will not be able to participate in the Sponsor A Family program due to time constraints. All donations collected for this program are displayed in the shelter, similar to shopping. This allows shelter clients to pick gifts for their family members staying with us. The need for this program is great and all donations are much appreciated.
-
How do I participate in this program?
You do not need to register with SafePlace to participate in this program. Please drop off donations at the
Gil Crane Warehouse and notify the warehouse staff the donation is for the Shop for the Shelter Program.
-
When do I bring the gifts to you?
Please bring donations to the
Gil Crane Warehouse during the month of December.
-
What kind of gifts should I bring?
Please review our suggested
wish list.
-
Can I donate additional things not on the list?
We welcome all gifts, however please do not donate any violent toys (toy knives, toy guns, etc.) We also do not accept opened toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.)
-
If I collect money from different people to purchase items, do they receive a tax write off?
If you are a company, organization, or informal affiliation with multiple participants pooling cash or checks, which is then used to purchase gifts that are given to SafePlace, we are unable to issue donation receipts for cash. Donations of items are considered in-kind donations to SafePlace, not cash donations. We regret any inconvenience this may cause some of our donors. Please see our
tax information for complete details.
