Community Dialogue Project

Inspired by Restorative Justice principles and practices, the Community Dialogue Project represents SafePlace's first effort to work directly with abusers.  The overarching intention of this project is changing the social norms that promote violence in intimacy.  Program initiatives currently include:

  • Victim Impact Panels: domestic violence survivors telling their stories to men who have battered.
  • Groups for professionals and students to discuss using restorative justice concepts in serving survivors.
  • The Survivor Voices Project empowers female survivors of partner violence to share their stories through speaking, art, poetry and in other ways.  The goal is to help survivors reclaim their voice, learn from each other and continue to move forward.
